Questions
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No, and unusually for this claim it is guaranteed by the design rather than by a promise. The recording is produced by your browser's own MediaRecorder and held in memory as it grows. There is no server component to this tool at all, so there is nothing that could receive your video even in principle.
Is there a time limit or watermark?
Neither. Record for as long as you like. The practical limit is your available memory, since the video is held there until you stop, so for very long sessions a desktop with plenty of RAM is wiser than a laptop with little.
Why is there no sound from my computer?
Capturing system audio is a browser limitation rather than a fault here. Chrome and Edge can do it when you share a browser tab, and on Windows when you share an entire screen, provided you tick the share-audio box in their prompt. Firefox and Safari largely cannot, and will record silence. Microphone audio works everywhere.
Can I record on my iPhone or iPad?
No. iOS does not let any website capture the screen, in Safari or in any other browser, so no web-based recorder can work there. Use the screen recorder built into iOS, in Control Centre, instead.
What format do I get, and can I convert it?
A WebM file, which is what browsers produce natively. It plays in every modern browser, in VLC, and uploads directly to YouTube. If you need MP4 for older software, convert it afterwards. A converter for that is on the way here.
What happens if I close the tab mid-recording?
The recording is lost, because it lives only in the memory of this page. Nothing is written to disk until you press download. Stop and save before navigating away, and be aware the browser will warn you if you try to leave while recording.
